Facebook People You May Know Stalking

Facebook People You May Know Stalking | Over the past few weeks a number of my students insisted they know 'a method' to see who looked at your facebook profile one of the most. Typically I don't care about such 'myths' however given that it didn't pass away and students didn't think my 'that's impossible to work' here a brief post about it and the reason why it won't work.

Facebook People You May Know Stalking

The concept: Discover your facebook ID (if you have no idea how to do that, google it. Easy as 1,2,3), browse to your profile via your very own ID, ideal click, open source code and after that see your 'stalker'.

Here are some screenshots that demonstrate how it needs to work.

1.) Browse to your profile through your ID, right click and view page source.

2.) Look for the entry 'friendslist' in the source code.

And here the reason that this DOES NOT WORK!

1.) Pals and the personal information Facebook gathers from them and you is their greatest great. They would NEVER EVER EVER make it accesible and simple to learn. If you can find it out like this, everybody else might find it out too. Simply think about the issues this may trigger. That's something Facebook would never ever wish to take place because they would enter lots of trouble.

2.) This part of the source code does reveal some sort of a list, true. However it is quite likely that it reveals the good friends you are most likely to interact with. As you may now Facebook ranks your buddies and the news you see and on wich position your good friends appear on your interaction with them. So if you are likely to engage with a good friend (say it's your sister or someone you utilized to talk with a lot over the past few days) this good friend will make it to the top of the list. It is NOT the person who visited your profile the last.

3.) If you don't believe me, believe some of the other geeks and Facebook addicts out there. Example: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13789565/what-is-the-significance-of-orderedfriendslistinitialdata.

Hope that assists and the myth of 'I know who visited my profile last/ most' will finally die.
